Biography

Asher specializes in Jewish intellectual history and the history of early modern European scholarship. He is particularly interested in Christian Hebraism as a site of cross-cultural exchange between early modern Jews and Christians. His previous research has tackled the English reception of contemporary rabbinic writings (c. 1650) and changes in the scholarly Christian perception of Jewish law in the seventeenth century. Asher holds a BA from Williams College in History and Political Science and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in Early Modern History.
