Staff News

The department staff in Harris 104 had a great and productive year! Since 2023, the office has been fully staffed again. Our Business Administrator, Annerys Cano, could not be prouder of her team. This year brought innovative discoveries, solutions, and departmental updates ranging from a new way of printing, to new spaces in Harris Hall, to ice cream.

 About the History Staff:

Annerys Cano has been with the Department of History for twelve years; she is History’s brilliant Business Administrator who leads and supports a team of five. Annerys is quick to listen to her team and department. She cares about the well-being of her department and strives to be at the forefront of cutting-edge initiatives to ensure History  always puts its best foot forward.

Julie Hoather, our diligent Graduate Coordinator, truly goes above and beyond to help others in the department. She is always eager to stretch out an arm to help another faculty member, staff member, graduate student, stranger; whoever it is, she is a tremendous and welcoming support to them, and the department is grateful to have her. Julie has overseen the creation of a SharePoint intranet for the graduate students, which is another major improvement to the department.

Nick Anton is our awesome Undergraduate Coordinator who supports History’s undergraduate students and department course administration. He helps students to efficiently troubleshoot registration or course issues, too. But not only that! He recently kickstarted the department’s Instagram page and is excited to see it grow soon. Be sure to check it out and follow us on Instagram at historynorthwestern.

Susan Delrahim is the department’s magical accounting assistant who manages hundreds of receipts and makes sure every detail is accounted for (no pun intended!). She comes into the office each morning with a positive quote or life story to share with the team and she makes the office smile every single day.

Christina Alexandru is our Program Assistant who enjoys sharing creative and innovative solutions with the department. She created a SharePoint intranet for History faculty called the History Commons and continues to support the department in numerous ways such as enhancing departmental communications – and designing our amazing newsletter! She was honored to have received the Weinberg Staff Meteor Award for Excellence in a New Position.

Pictures below showcase Christina Alexandru receiving the Staff Meteor Award award from Dean Adrian Randolph; below that displays a group photo with all other staff award winners at the May 2, 2024 luncheon.
