Courtesy Appointment
We’re delighted that Prof. Kennetta Hammond Perry has joined the History Department as a courtesy appointment. An associate professor of Black Studies, Prof. Perry comes to Northwestern from the UK, where she was the Founding Director of the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK. An historian of Black life, race, and racism in postwar Britain, she is the author of London is the Place For Me: Black Britons, Citizenship, and the Politics of Race, published by Oxford University Press in 2016. She is currently at work on a book-length study, "David Oluwale and the Alchemy of Policing Blackness in Britain," which will tell the history of the Black British experience through a single life.
