Prof. Daniel Immerwahr published in The New Yorker on the 1993 Waco siege and more

May 1, 2023

Prof. Daniel Immerwahr's article about the 1993 Waco siege and its ongoing aftermath is now in The New Yorker. It's titled "A Fire Started in Waco. Thirty Years Later, It’s Still Burning," and you can read more here.

We just hit the 30th anniversary of Waco, and it's a rare historical event that's growing more, not less, relevant with the passage of time. Timothy McVeigh, Alex Jones, the militia movement, and now Donald Trump have all, in various ways, seized on Waco as their rallying cry. The Oglala Lakota activist Russell Means called it the "white man's Wounded Knee."
