Biography
Keeley Wade is a JD-PhD student whose research focuses on post-Civil War legal history. She is particularly interested in exploring the themes of identity, citizenship, and rights from the mid-nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. Before coming to Northwestern, Keeley received her BA in History from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her undergraduate thesis examined Tennessee's decisive ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, primarily from the perspective of anti-suffragist leaders. Her research offers an explanation of the anti-suffragists' worldview and suggests how their rhetoric and strategies may have unintentionally contributed to the success of the Nineteenth Amendment.
Keeley previously worked for the Tennessee Reading Research Center, where she developed educational materials used in reading intervention programs.
