Biography
Drew Meinecke graduated from the University of Michigan with a double major in History and English. During his studies, he gave a presentation on original research at the Visions Film Festival and Conference and published the paper “The Paradise Theater (1941–1951): African American Movie Palaces and the 1943 Racial Uprising in Detroit” in Film Matters magazine. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Journal of History, an undergraduate journal that publishes articles from students nationwide. He received high honors for his history honors thesis, “A Tense Coexistence: Examining the Interracial Character of Belle Isle Park in 1920s-1940s Detroit.” In his spare time, he enjoys running and listening to Bruce Springsteen, and is an avid follower of Michigan football, Detroit sports teams, and Manchester City.
