Biography
Maria (she/they) is a PhD student studying 17th century English and Scottish gender, sex, and sexuality through art, literature, and theater studies. She received a B.A. in History and a B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University, where she was a President’s Scholar. Their undergraduate thesis compared the classical allusions and Renaissance influences of the portraiture of the male favorites of Henri III of France and James VI & I of Scotland and England. Aside from reading historical fiction and scouring estate sales for antique books, Maria loves watching ice hockey, knitting, and traveling.
