Cole Roecker

Biography

Cole Roecker is a doctoral student in American history and a Mellon Cluster Fellow in Environment, Culture, and Society. He studies nineteenth- and twentieth-century North America, with interests in environmental history, New France, and ornithology. In his past work, Roecker has explored early examples of ecological restoration in American conservation, American wetlands, and the politics of environmentalism in contemporary France. As he joins Northwestern, he aims to expand his studies of agricultural history and land usage in the American North and Canada.

Cole holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, English Literature, and French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before attending Northwestern, he worked as a French translator for a medical software company.
