Postdoctoral Modern British History Fellowship
The Department of History is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for the Modern British History Postdoctoral Fellowship. The postdoc will teach 2 courses per year, including one segment of the department’s British History sequence and “Europe in the Modern World” (201-2). The recipient will be expected to use the rest of the fellowship period to advance their research and publication agenda. The fellow will be expected to be in residence for the full academic year and participate actively in the intellectual life of the department.
The competition for the fellowship is open to Northwestern History Department graduates who have received or expect to receive their PhD in the years from 2021 to 2025 and do not have ongoing employment. Recipients will be selected by a departmental committee.
The fellowship is for one year, from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026. It can be renewed for a second year under certain circumstances. Fellowship awardees will receive a stipend of $61,008, benefits, and a $3,000 research budget. The awardee must have the Ph.D. in hand by 1 September 2025 to begin the postdoctoral fellowship.
