Assistant Professor, History of North America, 1800-1940
The Department of History at Northwestern University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the history of North America, 1800-1940. Our priority is the field of African American history. We also encourage applications from scholars of Asian American, Indigenous, and Latinx history, or some combination thereof in that time period.
The successful candidate will teach four courses annually over the course of three academic quarters, advise graduate students, and contribute to a vibrant interdisciplinary community both in and beyond the History Department. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in History or an adjacent field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. This is a full-time position starting September 1, 2024.
